PhD Biochemistry is a research-based course that studies living organisms on the molecular level and involves a deep study of biomolecules. To be eligible for PhD Biochemistry, a candidate must complete the postgraduate degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or any other related fields with a minimum 55% aggregate marks. Further eligibility is decided through marks scored in the entrance exams and the consequent interview.

Admission to PhD Biochemistry course is on the basis of marks scored in the entrance exams. Some of the most common entrance exams for this course are as GATE, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET, etc. Some colleges also conduct Personal Interview and Written Test after Entrance Exams for final shortlisting of students.

A student must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to become eligible for the PhD Biochemistry course.

  • A candidate must complete a Master’s degree in Biochemistry or its related subjects with an aggregate of 55% marks or a 5.5 CGPA out of 10.
  • Candidates with an MPhil degree in Biochemistry are also allowed.
  • Candidates with a master’s degree in Pharmacy or Technology (M Pharm or MTech), or a bachelor’s degree program of more than a duration of four years like MBBS and BDS will also be considered eligible for this course.
  • Students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), differently abled, and other categories shall get the relaxation of 5% of marks.
