ONLINE PHD IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

PhD Environmental Science or Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science is a 3-year Doctorate program that deals with the study of the environment in the chemical, biological, and physical context.

This is also considered as the higher study of energy conservation, pollution, climatic changes, biodiversity, plastic menace, and global warming as it is a combination of both social science and natural science.

The PhD course includes extensive coursework, seminars and Theme papers. It also includes a thesis work, where the students have to choose a specialization. The area of specialization includes studies of Soil, forest and biodiversity conservation; Water treatment and waste management; Disaster management; Biological nitrogen removal; and Freshwater biodiversity, Nanomaterials, etc.

The duration of this course is a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years. The minimum eligibility for admission is the successful completion of M.Sc. or M.Phil. in Environmental Science or other related fields.

PhD Environmental Science admissions are based on the student's performance in the relevant entrance test and subsequent round of interviews.

In Indian colleges, the annual average fee charged for the course ranges between the INR 1,000 and 2 lakh for 3 years, and the annual average salary the graduates can earn after the completion of the course ranges from INR 4 to 10 lakh, and it may increase with the experience and expertise.

  • Master’s Degree from any recognized university or institution with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • For students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled and such other categories, 5% relaxation as per the decision of the UGC and Govt. of India will be accorded.
  • However, a student with GATE/CSIR-UGC/JRF/NET/SLET cleared in the relevant subject is exempted from the Entrance Test.
  • Candidates who have M.Phil degree from the UGC accredited universities are also exempted from the entrance tests.
